Block Blast: a free online block puzzle game
Block Blast is a relaxing yet challenging block puzzle game that you can play for free in your browser. There is no download, no sign-up and no timer. Place colorful blocks on an 8×8 grid, clear complete rows and columns, and see how long you can keep the board from filling up. The game works on phones, tablets and desktop computers, and your best score is saved on your device.
How to play Block Blast
- Pick up a block. Three blocks are shown below the board. Press (or touch) one and drag it onto the grid.
- Find a spot. A translucent preview shows where the block will land, and lines that are about to clear light up. Blocks cannot be rotated, so plan around their shape.
- Release to place. If the position is not valid, the block flies back to the tray and you can try again.
- Clear lines. Fill an entire row or column and it disappears, freeing up space. Rows and columns can be cleared at the same time.
- Get new blocks. When all three blocks are placed, a new set arrives. The game is over when none of the remaining blocks fit on the board.
Scoring and combos
Every cell you place is worth one point. The big points come from clearing lines: the more lines you clear with a single block, the larger the bonus.

Clear lines on consecutive turns to build a combo. Each extra combo level adds 50% to the bonus, and the combo is lost after three placements in a row without a clear. Emptying the entire board is a Perfect Clear and is worth an extra 200 points.
Block Blast strategy tips
- Look at all three blocks first. Decide where each one will go before you place the first, so you don't block yourself.
- Keep the board tidy. Avoid leaving isolated single-cell holes. They are hard to fill and cut your options quickly.
- Save space for long blocks. Keep at least one open row or column free for the 1×4 and 1×5 bars.
- Build toward multi-line clears. Setting up two or three nearly full lines and finishing them together earns far more than clearing them one by one.
- Chase combos, but stay safe. A combo multiplier is powerful, yet it is never worth trapping yourself with a crowded board.
- Use the preview. Highlighted lines while you drag show exactly what will clear before you let go.
